Autobiography
 Asking Questions
When I was about six or seven years old I used to play in my grandmother's chestnut grove. One day as I was resting on the grass, I looked up and saw a brightly shining sun. I wondered how the sun was able to be suspended up in the sky. As I thought about it somemore, I began to realize that everything, trees, houses, mountains, as well as myself were all suspended. How was this suspension possible? was there something holding the earth up? No, that was not possible because something else would have to hold it up, and in turn something would have to hold it up at infinitum. I was beginning to learn something about forms and space albeit at a young age which remained with me my entire life. As I became older, I also began to realize that universe cannot be finite. Because if it were, than there would have to be something which lies outside its boundaries. This thought is an example of the concept of infinity. My initial thoughts on what holds the earth up were my first exposures to the concept of infinity. Infinity is as fascinating as it is frightening. You probably have experienced it many times vi sually. From the simple observation of converging lines at a railroad track to the more complex duplication of images wi th two mirrors. Where the reflection of mirror A is duplicated in the reflection of mirror B, and one can see the reflection of mirror B from mirror A plus that of mirror A again inside mirror B, at infinitum. In addition you will notice that the size of the image will be half of the original as the distance doubles. Images will become infinitely small and imperceptible. In addition, the entire visualization will become progressively darker (and greenish blue) adding to the sense of mystery. Somehow these interests have found their way into some of my visual works both in painting and electronic imaging.
